Future-proofing of Vaxholm’s property portfolio by Bravida
The municipality of Vaxholm is currently carrying out extensive work on its property portfolio with the aim of creating safe, modern and sustainable environments for local residents. Bravida has been commissioned to implement a range of technical improvements — an assignment that covers everything from schools and nursing homes to youth centres and the municipal offices.
Vaxholm is undertaking exciting modernisation of its municipal properties. Bravida’s assignment is to future-proof buildings such as schools, preschools, nursing homes, sports facilities, administrative buildings and leisure facilities. A number of technical solutions have already been implemented with a focus on energy efficiency and safety, and more is planned going forward.
One of the more large-scale projects is the installation of roof heating for Vaxholm Town Hall, which aims to improve safety during the winter months by reducing the risk of accidents caused by snow and ice. Replacing lighting in municipal properties is a major element of Bravida’s assignment. During the autumn, this included modernising the lighting at Storstugan youth centre, complete renovation of a number of apartments and replacing the lighting at one of the municipality’s nursing homes.
“We deal with everything from minor modifications such as outdoor lighting and façade lighting to major renovations and upgrades to electrical installations, as well as lighting systems. The goal is to create long-term sustainable solutions that deliver both environmental and financial benefits,” says Nicklas Kedemar, Branch Manager Service at Bravida.
Bravida will be carrying out a series of projects in 2025. These will include replacement of lighting in one of the municipality’s sports halls, and repairs to the lighting at the municipal offices and the municipal ice rink. In addition, roof heating is to be installed at another three to four schools, which will improve safety in the longer term.
“Working on these properties requires great understanding of the needs of each site. At a school, for example, the working environment and lighting are crucial, while accessibility and adaptation to needs are more essential in a nursing home,” explains Nicklas.
For Bravida, safety is an important aspect of every project, and checks are made before every task to ensure that everything is carried out with the utmost regard for the safety of both employees and residents.
“Safety is always a high priority for us, especially in projects like these where we are working in environments used by children, the elderly and other vulnerable groups,” says Nicklas.
The project in Vaxholm showcases Bravida’s expertise in creating safe, modern and sustainable communities for the future.
“It’s fantastic getting to help improve the municipality’s infrastructure and making a difference to the everyday lives of residents.”
