PMO – Special Projects

Bravida's business area PMO – Special Projects plans, executes, manages and implements large and complex projects such as major infrastructure projects, data centres or advanced industrial projects. With Bravida's 100 years of experience, we are a financially stable partner with both expertise and resources.

With PMO - Special Projects you are offered a partnership that starts immediately at the feasibility study. The earlier we get into the process, the better. We know how to minimise risks and achieve cost-effectiveness and are therefore the best advisor right from the initial planning stage. We offer a scalable organisation that is tailored to each project, we are very flexible - even during ongoing projects. We utilise expertise both from our own organisation and from our wide external network of contacts.

Structured approach

Partnering with Bravida throughout the project you will benefit from our structured approach. We have established models for project management, design and follow-up, and our management system is based on 100 years of experience combined with international project management methodology (PMBOK).

What is BIM?

*BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a collaborative way for multidisciplinary information storing, sharing, exchanging, and managing throughout the entire building project lifecycle including planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and demolition phase (Eastman et al., 2011).

In the project's feasibility study, we act as your advisor, and you benefit from our extensive knowledge and experience in:

  • Technical feasibility
  • Risk analysis
  • Time management
  • Regulations and authorisations
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Technical specifications and requirements

During the project start-up phase, Bravida places great emphasis on the actual planning work to ensure that implementation is as efficient as possible. With our planning tool - which acts as a link between manufacturing, delivery, suppliers and clients - we ensure the right delivery, at the right time, with the right resources, materials and tools for everything from design to production.

Bravida has also developed its own working method for BIM* and modelling. This method combines 3D models with cost and schedule data into an information-rich 5D model. This model is a practical tool for sharing information between site and office and helps us to run our large projects efficiently.

We also offer a system for the large number of change requests that always arise in complex projects. We manage them by:

  • Mapping and documenting requirements and change requests in a database including version and history
  • Presentation of requirements as affected, tested and verified through a verification matrix
  • Synchronised updated documentation
  • Visible and clear change control in documentation and description

Bravida uses WBS - Work Breakdown Structure - to describe all the activities in a project, and group them into different work packages. A work package can include:

  • The purchase of products and materials to be installed
  • Necessary resources
  • Logistics and delivery planning
  • Time and installation planning
  • Tools and equipment
  • Work planning
  • Monitoring of time and cost

Large projects also require large purchases and advanced logistics. Bravida always ensures just-in-time deliveries for both materials and subcontractors, and we work with centralised agreements. We monitor our subcontractors and guarantee a sustainable supply chain.

Health and safety are important areas in PMO projects. To create the best and safest working environment possible, we always have our own health and safety team on site during the production phase. We also devote a lot of resources to developing new technical solutions for better safety and ergonomics.

The progress and results of the work packages are monitored in real time through tools that are all linked to the 5D models developed at the start of the project. The methodology also allows for immediate corrections when needed. Finally, the tool stores the final documentation, requirements and as-built documentation.

Bravida's project plan also always includes several activities that ensure the right quality, on time and with the right resources, such as training, project improvements, management systems, project audits, supplier audits and more. We also have solid processes to follow up our subcontractors and ensure a sustainable supply chain.

During the closing phase, we ensure that the agreed product or service has been delivered, financial agreements have been fulfilled and that any errors or deficiencies in the contract have been rectified. We evaluate working methods and procedures and ensure that lessons learnt are recorded and recycled for future projects implementation. In this way, we are constantly improving!

Our sectors

Bravida PMO - Special Projects works primarily with projects in the infrastructure, data centres and new industry sectors. In all sectors, we work with a high degree of digitalisation, according to a structured project management methodology, and with a strong focus on health and safety.

Infrastructure

In public projects, especially in infrastructure, there are many stakeholder groups to deal with for us as a supplier. The assignment often involves coordination responsibilities, and it is important to find fast decision-making paths to ensure an efficient decision-making process from the start.

Our infrastructure project managers and project leaders have extensive experience of working with customers and other suppliers in the industry, as well as successfully managing large projects. We are also at the forefront of developments in both BIM and modelling and logistics.

Data centres

Our data centre projects are characterised by efficiency, highest safety standards and international contacts. We usually work as the main contractor in these contexts and are responsible for everything from project management and design to construction and installation.

We have a track record of successfully delivering DC projects, starting with the construction of Facebook Datacentre in Luleå and completion of data centres in Mälardalen for a confidential customer. With the data centre industry buzzing with construction activity rising and with very positive feedback from our customers, we look forward to many new assignments in the field.

New industry

Installations are becoming increasingly important as the more advanced industrial facilities of the future are built, with high demands on safety, robustness and sustainability as a result. Thanks to our experience of large, complex projects with an international focus, we bring valuable knowledge to the assignments from the start.

We are involved from an early stage, with our project managers having extensive backgrounds in key knowledge areas such as procurement, sales, business development, contract management, mobility, and not least in the technology itself via our system specialists.

Reference projects

PMO is currently working on the design and execution of installations for the E4 Stockholm Bypass motorway tunnel and the expansion of the Stockholm metro. PMO’s track record within the field consists of Norra länken, Södra länken, The Stockholm City Line, Astra Zeneca, Facebook Data Centre in Luleå, and data centres in the Mälardalen region.

E4 The Stockholm bypass

Bravida is working on two installation contracts on E4 The Stockholm bypass Project. Together they form the largest installation assignment to date in Sweden.

Stockholm’s new metro

Bravida is working on two installation contracts for the expanded metro on behalf of Region Stockholm's administration

Data centers in Mälardalen

Bravida is the general contractor for three constructions of data centers in Mälardalen on behalf of a confidential customer.
