Bravida awarded contracts to perform installation work for the extension of the Stockholm metro, with an order value of approximately SEK 1.3 billion

Bravida has been awarded two contracts by Region Stockholm for the expanded metro, and will assist with the extension of the blue line from Kungsträdgården via Södermalm to Nacka and southern Stockholm.

Press release

Region Stockholm is adding 30 kilometres of track and 18 new stations to the metro, to further develop public transport in Stockholm and make the metro even more attractive for travellers. The expansion works includes the creation of work tunnels, main tunnels, stations and a larger depot.

Mattias Johansson, CEO and Group President at Bravida, comments:

“We are proud to be part of the expansion of Stockholm’s public transport system and to be contributing in yet another way to a more sustainable society. We are also pleased to have been awarded another major infrastructure project. This shows that we have the financial strength, expertise and capability to execute, manage and implement large and complex infrastructure projects.”

Bravida’s work will include the design and implementation of HVAC, electrical and control systems for all the tunnels and for the seven new metro stations along the line from Kungsträdgården via Södermalm to Nacka and southern Stockholm.

“We are continuing to develop what we offer in this area, with a particular focus on design and BIM modelling. Working in a tunnel environment places high demands on both safety and planning, but thanks to our experience from similar projects, we are well set up and have suitable methods and procedures in place,” comments Robert Bengtsson, Project Manager for the New Metro project at Bravida.

Bravida’s part of the work will start with design in early 2024. The installation work will then commence in the second quarter of 2025 and final inspection is scheduled for the end of 2028.
